We’re knee deep in Spooky Season—my absolute favorite time of year.
The South plays a dirty trick on us Fall Freaks, however, by offering chilled, autumnal mornings that quickly mutate into stifling, swamp-ass-inducing scorchers by noon.
It isn’t really until November that the season settles in nice and proper, but then again, I recall wearing shorts to many Thanksgiving dinners over the years.
Regardless, let’s bring on the pumpkin-spice-everything and the inflatable Halloween lawn figures. Hell yeah.
While we’re at it, here are a few updates from the sanctum.
A New Piece of Music, A New Path
Over the last few years, I’ve found myself drifting further and further away from the musical sensibilities I had in decades past—both in what I enjoy listening to and what I’m inspired to compose.
Maybe I’m just getting old and headbanging hurts too much now, but I’ve been really into the chillaxing long-play visualizers featuring immersive music found around YouTube, especially the classical, dark academia, and dark ambient flavoured ones.
I love the idea of music set to imagery and animation which combine to offer a little portal into another world, an escape of sorts.
While slogging through the massive chore of re-releasing my back catalog of rock and electronica projects, I’ve come to a realization: I’m likely done writing full-length albums.
For an indie composer like me, it just doesn’t make sense. The world moves too fast to disappear for five years cobbling together a collection of songs—of which maybe three or four are standouts, and the rest mere filler.
Besides, I have a precious small following, and it’s quite possible they’d forget I even exist in the interim.
So, I’m going rogue again—applying the same modus operandi I use for my writing: one piece at a time.
That said, here’s the first offering in this new musical arc: Rainfall Reverie. You can find it on my YouTube music channel (aptly named Liam Keith – Mythic Music):
If viewing on e-mail, click THIS LINK.
Rainfall Reverie is a dark academia piece set to the sound of gentle rain, with accompanying visuals of rainy Victorian streets and scenes.
It’s perfect for writing dark fiction, vibing out, studying, or drifting off to sleep.
Let me know what you think—and if you enjoy it, liking the video and subscribing to the channel would help me out immensely.
Greycross Updates
As of today, I’ve 32 chapters drafted for the first novel in my Gothic Fantasy / Mystery / Horror series, Greycross—weighing in at a whopping 135,000 words.
Of these, a Prologue and 13 chapters are now edited and published on my site.
Based on my comprehensive outline, Book I will consist of 52 chapters of Victorian occult mystery—representing merely the mouth of this ever-deepening labyrinth.
What’s cool is these finished chapters are FREE to read, right frickin’ now.
The most recent chapter brings the intro arc of my other primary protagonist, Helena, to a satisfying resolution—and marks the beginning of a new “journey within a journey” for readers to follow.
Through her eyes, we’ll witness not only her own struggles and triumphs, but slowly peel away the layers of mystery surrounding who Greycross is—and what ancient secrets he keeps.
But trust me—she’s more than a lens. She’s alive in every way.
Now, a word to potential readers based on some honest feedback from those who’ve dipped their toes into the Mundus Obscurus: Greycross is not a quick-fix piece of genre fiction.
It’s well written and checks all the boxes for “good fiction”, certainly. It absolutely sings in places and eviscerates in others. It cuts down to the bone, and bores into the soul—but it does so slowly.
In the spirt of gothic horror masterpieces of previous centuries, Greycross is a slow-burn, brooding, atmospheric odyssey into the otherworld.
This is an increasingly foreign concept in our age of rapid-fire micro-content and dwindling attention spans. I’ve been warned that I may shut out certain readers because of this—but this story simply cannot be written any other way.
If you don’t enjoy slower-paced, deliberate reads with immense psychological and mythic depth, you may want to give Greycross a pass.
My feelings won’t be hurt. Honest.

New Stories and Serials
“You madman! How can you possibly conceive of another project?”
I have so many book ideas that even if I live to be 100 years old and was allowed to spend every day writing for the rest of my life, I might finish half of them.
Many of my parallel projects have enough content that, once edited, can begin to populate my site with exciting new mythical offerings.
Some new IPs include:
- A folk horror novella
- A post-apocalyptic serial novel with a gothic twist
- And even (get this) an anime-inspired YA Fantasy / Martial Arts epic
Whoa! Look at this guy ova here, will ya? Sheesh.
That’s right—I’m just a little crazy. I’m either going to succeed and ascend to the Hall of Legends, or tailspin into a fiery blaze. Either way, it’s gonna be gnarly.
Until next time, be on the lookout for new chapters, and new pieces of music to enjoy!
